The book chronicles four decades from the late 60's to the early 90's and covers Phillips trails and tribulations growing up on the Southside of Chicago. He grew up in the midst of drugs, crime, and poverty, but overcame all of it.

A part of a trilogy, this novel covers Phillips Life before recieving salavation through Jesus Christ.

Destiny’s Son is a compilation of the obstacles, distractions, despair, and the madness I encountered throughout my destiny. There are several messages throughout Destiny’s Son. If I could help others by writing, then I have truly accomplished my callings. Thank you, Jesus!

Maurice Phillips is the President/CEO of this website, author of Destiny’s Son & Destiny’s Son “The Next Level”, and of Family Dynamic Productions.

His birth name being Phillip Maurice Watson-Gibbs, he will use only his first name Phillip, meaning great-helper, and Maurice, meaning love. Mr. Phillips’ philosophy is that before anything great happens to you, consistently you must first have love in your heart.

His inspiration was his mother. “My mom had me at 16 years old”. She wanted to go on welfare but my grandmother wouldn’t let her. Which, forced her to go to school and get a job as a receptionist with the Chicago Police Department. Cassandra Gibbs went on to earn 3 Masters Degrees and is currently a teacher. She is currently teaching at Ryerson School (k-8) on the Westside of Chicago.

Phillips earned a degree from Cal State University Hayward in Criminal Justice. He has been a counselor for 15 years and works with inner city youth from Richmond, Oakland, and Fremont, helping them to develop a career plan to become successful. Phillips goes to various schools and has spoken at the NAACP Youth Conference in San Jose, The Boys & Girls Club and Group Homes.

Phillips goal is to help the inner city youth.

One student who gained from Phillips guidance is Sonny McCree. McCree is currently enrolled as a student on a full football scholarship at Fresno State University. Majoring in Law and Education, he wants to be a teacher or an attorney.

A documentary called 365 days about the making of the book is in the works.

Along with Minister Elder Blu, Phillips plans to work with individuals’ ages 16-25, in what is called Fraps n Snaps. It is a gathering every 2^nd Saturday from 8pm-10pm at Barnes and Nobel in Jack London Square, Downtown Oakland. Where they will work with poets and rap artists on vocal delivery and presentation.

The Second Novel, Destiny’s Son: “Another Level” explores his life as a man of God. It is due out summer 2008.

Phillips future plan includes a clothing line and cologne for Destiny’s Son.
